Stamps
I’m getting sick of the hand stamps that clubs bash into your hand upon entry to the concert. In the town of Las Vegas, I might end up at up a couple different clubs on any given night, and a handful of clubs on any given weekend. When each one stamps me, they fight for real estate on my hand because I haven’t even had time to TRY to wash the last one off. Yes, I said try… something about my skin makes it so that stamps never want to leave. A couple of weeks ago, I think I scrubbed so hard that I bruised my hand… either that or I did something when I was drunk that I don’t remember, like punch a wall.
I hated stamps even before I lived in Vegas, when I used to go to concerts all the time. I learned that I didn’t like these unsightly “TO BE FAXED” stamps on the front side of my hand, so I started offering the inside of my wrist. Sometimes it works, but most of the time the all knowing security guard requests I turn my wrist 180 degrees so that their ink can be read from passers-by a mile away. I think Andrew made the suggestion of getting a tattoo of a picture frame on my hand so that bouncers had a target for imprinting me further.
Regarding the other type of stamp, prices went up for sendign a letter from 41 cents to 42 cents today. Poor people that wrote their mom’s a happy birthday letter and didn’t get it into the mail until Mother’s Day, and now their letters are a penny short. What does the Post Office do with letters that are a penny shy, anyway? Return them? Charge the receiver? I’ve never heard of either happening. Guess I’ll continue using my 41 cent stamps til I am told otherwise.
Music makes me sick!
Had an amazing week and then a bad week and thought I’d share it with y’all. So last week was Coachella out in California, and though I didn’t go, I did reap the benefits of all of the bands traveling through Las Vegas to get out to the desert. In 6 days, I saw 5 concerts… Minus The Bear, Death Cab For Cutie, Kanye West, The Raconteurs, and VHS Or Beta. Special thanks to Rick Savage and Jen Creason for hooking me up with tix to a couple of the shows. All the shows were great, with standouts for me being Minus The Bear and Kanye West. My friends really enjoyed Death Cab, but I had seen them before and found them a little too mellow for my tastes. VHS Or Beta would have blown me away had I not just seen them a couple of weeks ago.
Unfortunately, all that show-going and partying wore me out, and I have spent most of the last week in bed being sick. While I’m not super sick, I’ve had a sore throat and a runny nose that just won’t go away. Blah.
